Adding Features, Functions and Content

A mobile application will present your information to your users in an easy and intuitive manner. The design of your app should follow the interface guidelines for the Apple and Google operating systems as this will create an interface users will understand.

The application design approach used on this website will produce applications that keep faith with Apple and Google's design rules.

You can the following basic functions to your application. For many applications, these modules will give all the functionality required to produce very low cost apps. You may need a more customised design, in which case we can build on the basic ideas that you have assembled using this website.

The modules discussed on these pages form the basic building blocks for powerful applications. However, the range of possibilities is only limited by your imagination.

Once you have built a basic prototype app, you may find that it needs some specialised features to make it complete. Contact us to discuss a customised solution built to your specifications.

Content pages

Richly formatted content is displayed on the simplest page: the content page. This can include formatted text and images, and possibly video. Content pages can be used for simple 'about us' type pages, or dynamically linked to an index or calendar entry.

Navigation

Navigation pages allow your users to select a page or feature to view.

Events

Events present details of an event just like content pages, but include additional features to manage the data and time of the event.  Your users can join in - in the simplest form they can sign up to say they will be attending.  In a more advanced app, the users would be able to buy tickets to the event.

Camera functions and media handling

Display picture or video galleries. Most smartphones and pad devices include a camera, which can be used in your application.

Your users will be able to take pictures using the camera and upload them to the server.  Photos can be included in messages.

Map and location services

Smartphones can track their location. This function can be used for a variety of purposes, such as helping users to find out where they are or a destination for an attraction or meeting.
